Sioux Lookout Resident Elective

Through the Sioux Lookout Resident Elective, UofT EM senior residents are able to travel to Sioux Lookout with a UofT-affiliated staff for their locum shifts at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre. This includes FRCP-EM PGY-3-5 residents and CCFP-EM residents. 

 

Expressing Interest

Residents who have general interest in participating in the Sioux Lookout Resident elective can complete this Google Form. Once you have completed this form you will be added to the list of interested residents who will be contacted as we receive confirmation of UofT-affiliated who have confirmed locum shifts in Sioux Lookout. Guidelines regarding the elective can be found here.

 

Funding & Travel

Resident travel for this elective will be funded by NORSTAR and reimbursed similar to the manner in which locum physicians are reimbursed for travel. Residents are required to complete a minimum of 3 shifts.

Pre-Departure Education Requirements

All participants in the Sioux Lookout Resident Elective must complete the following education components:

  1. Review of key background website material about Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC):
  1. Completion of three relevant Ontario Health online modules. All participants must complete 'Cultural Competence in Healthcare' and then can choose two additional modules of their choosing .
